Quotes for Childhood...

Based on the work I currently do with children I have found the first two quotes to be very true, at times this can be very heartbreaking...

"All children behave as well as they are treated."
-Jan Hunt

"It is easier to build strong children
than to repair broken men".
-Frederick Douglas

Also, I have used this quote on my blog previously, but I feel it really is such a valid point...

"One test of the correctness of educational procedure is the happiness of the child."
-Maria Montessori

Hi Mandy, I just want to thank you for the feedback that you have given to me on my blog. Most of all I want to thank you for the link that you gave to me on how Nelson Mandela launched 46664 ways to raise awareness for the HIV/AIDS epidemic. I found this link to be very interesting and I really appreciate you taking the time out to send this link to me. I want to go there and actually make some kid of difference one day and if I could help out by doing something in this area I would fill like I have accomplished a lot in my life. Once again I just want to thank you for your comments and taking the time to read my post. I hope that you will do great in your future and continue on your journey to getting your masters degree and do what you love when you are done. Good luck to you and your future.

just as in our previous class it was such a pleasure working with you. This has been quite an experiance so far. I am learning that I can alway count on you to give an honest and thoughtful opinion on the topics we research. Thank you so much for making this course enjoyable. I always look forward to seeing what you have to post!

Mandy,I am totally in love with the quote "All children behave as well as they are treated." It is so true and you are right, it is heartbreaking. I don't think people understand that as adults, we mold the little ones and they do act out according to how they are treated. I have enjoyed reading your posts and feedback. Thank you for sharing your experiences with us and I wish you well in your future courses, maybe I'll see you in the next class!

I love this first quote! I have never heard it before but it is definitely true. Reading your blog has been been awesome! You have shared a lot and I'm sure everyone appreciates it. Good luck with everything throughout this program and keep sharing!

My Dad

My dad has always been the strongest influence in my life. Despite a difficult childhood growing up, he has always done the best he could with what he had. As a child I always felt protected and loved by my dad. When I was a child by trade my dad was a baker. My fondest memories are when he would wake my sisters and I up at 3 in the morning to go to work with him in the summer. We would make fresh donuts and cookies with him, and then fall asleep on the giant flour sacks!My dad has faced tremendous health problems, yet continues to love his family and show support for his children.

Some more of my favorite people!

Mom- My mom has demonstrated support for me throughout the years for being understanding when I am not understandable, showing support when I myself am not being supportive, and showing forgiveness when I have not been quick to forgive. In essence, being a mom!

Jeremy (The best brother-in-law)- I am the youngest in my family, therefore, I have been blessed by having my brother in law be such a part of my life from early on. Jeremy is the brother I never had. Jeremy has been non-judgmental and supportive throughout the trials and tribulations of life. I could not ask for a more caring and kind person to be a support system to me. Throughout my teen years and early twenties I counted on his guidance and understanding. Now as a seasoned adult, not much has changed!

Becky- My family moved often, and we never lived near our extended family. This really created a small support system for my sisters and I growing up, which could be why we are so close now. As we finally settled down one of my friend's mother's become like a second mom to me. She has always shown me unconditional love and support. As a teenager trying to be headstrong, she never wavered in showing me how much she cared. She always believed in my abilities, and was a positive inspiration to me.
